Western & Native American Art |
I live and work in Texas—home of almost all the great Cowboy Legends (and let's not forget the Indians), which also may indicate how old I am. Talk about "Characters," the working cowboy is the ultimate, and painting the "good ol' boys" brings me back to my childhood; a time when I could get rid of any bad guy with just a single shot from my trusty Cap-Gun.

The American Spirit was tested through conflict and the onslaught of foreign cultures. The resulting collective Human Spirit reflects this experience, forever influencing our imagination.

Gunfighter The western cowboy has always been one of the most interesting subjects to paint, (along with the American Indian). Living in Texas, I had the opportunity to visit a dude ranch where cowhands re-enacted 'gun fights' for us city folk. I wasn't much interested in who survived, but the cowboys themselves had too much character to ignore. Gunfighter was one I painted for the Fort Worth Stock and Rodeo Show, and I believe he fit in just fine.
