  Portraits

As a human being myself, it would be selfish for me NOT to paint portraits. There is no doubt that painting images of loved ones is the most gratifying commission I do. Preserving the face of a person who means so much to someone else is like a gift that I can give with my talent. Without question, portraiture is the most difficult in terms of seeing what the client sees; but if you like people, it can be done.

Karen
This is a portrait of my late wife Karen who died of cancer. She was my best friend and biggest supporter. I painted this for her on our first anniversary. I think portraits are important because they stay in the family for generations allowing those in the present to connect with the past.
